Fantasy Series The Wheel Of Time To Be Adapted As An Amazon Series
Fantasy fans will soon have another sprawling epic to drool over, as it was announced that Amazon Prime Video is adapting Robert Jordan’s sprawling series The Wheel Of Time for thier streaming service.
Amazon has been looking at making The Wheel of Time into a series for almost a year now, but no official word had been given. The last anyone heard about the show was back in June when the head of Amazon Studios told Deadline that she was going to read the script over the summer. It appears as if she has now given the go ahead to make the show.
Robert Jordan’s fantasy series tells the story of a world where women can wield magic, but men can’t. The main character Moiraine, embarks on a world-spanning journey seeking to fulfill an old prophecy. The series is 14 books long, but the last couple of them had to be finished by another author, based on Jordan’s notes after the author passed away. The first novel was published in 1990, with NBC picking up the rights in 2000.
No casting announcements have been made as of yet, and it is unclear when exactly the show will air. It is well known however that fantasy epics take awhile to put together, especially if they are done right, so it probably won’t be for another couple of years.
